Regulatory & Technology Updates
Keeping current with technology is essential. MWEA fills this need with specialty seminars each year, which keep members aware of regulatory and technology changes. Seminars and networking opportunities keep our members abreast of changes as they occur.

Timely Information & Training
MWEA publishes a quarterly newsletter, MWEA Matters, targeted to what is happening in Michigan. It also presents what others are doing to improve our water environment. Other technical and educational publications are provided through WEF. Collectively these sources supply the up-to-date information needed to help our members make informed decisions. MWEA also provides numerous education and training opportunities to ensure our members remain current in practices and regulatory requirements.

Networking Opportunities
MWEA’s membership includes industrial and municipal facility managers, operators, laboratory technicians, county and state government officials and employees, consulting engineers, equipment manufacturers, vendors, and educators who are committed to the health & safety of our water environment. There is someone in MWEA that does what you do, and know what you want to know. MWEA membership provides the forum to meet and exchange views with other knowledgeable people.

Community Outreach
Educating the public and particularly our youth is very important to MWEA. We have several programs to ensure that school-age children receive information on the water environment and how they and their parent can affect and protect that environment.

Our members can provide local schools with videos and other curriculum materials to teach students about water and wastewater. Our Adopt-A-School program offers municipalities, businesses, and concerned citizens an opportunity to provide water curriculum materials to local schools. Creating awareness about careers in water and wastewater is also an important part of our community program.

Through MWEA’s Speaker’s Bureau, presentations can be provided to schools and other organizations on all aspects of the water environment. MWEA also awards scholarships to students enrolled in college degree programs.
